Client Custom Kitchen on a Builder Grade Budget

Last year I embarked on an adventure with Prince Charming….

Our mission was to help design a home from the ground up, specializing on the kitchen and do it on a minimum budget…..a builder grade track home budget to be exact!

If you want to read about the beginning stages of the process you can start here.

Now if you have priced cabinets, countertop, appliances, faucets and the rest of what it takes to pull a kitchen together lately you know kitchens these days can easily cost $45,000!

However I am happy to report that we did it!!!!!

And we came in WAYYYY under budget!!!!

(Due to the nature of this project and the privacy of the homeowners I am not going to discuss all the numbers but believe me you’d be amazed.

If you’re interested in getting a quote to see how we can help you build your dream kitchen you can contact me here.)

Let’s start here with the blank canvas and I’ll show you how we did it…..

As you can see we had a BIG room to work with.  So when I found out that we would be doing this project,

I immediately started searching my favorite places for things we would need.

And before the kitchen was even finished being framed we totally lucked up and found an INCREDIBLE deal on these cabinets!!!!!

They were pulled from a big box store display after they were no longer needed and in excellent condition!!!!!

We bought them then and there all wrapped up in plastic!!!!  Just between you and me I didn’t even know for sure that they were going to work.

Shhhhhhhh!!!!

Most of them were the sizes we needed and at way less than what we would have paid to order them new they were too good to pass up.

So with that a kitchen was born and we were off and running.

A few days later we found these gems at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store.

They were actually new appliances that had damaged boxes so they couldn’t be sold in the typical retail fashion.

We were able to purchase them for less than half the retail price!!!!

SCORE!

We were also able to purchase this built in fridge and a dishwasher (also new not pictured) online for well under budget.

Next we focused on the faucets and cabinet hardware.  They came from various sellers on Ebay.  All new and all at fabulous prices!

On “kitchen day” I was so thrilled to get started I could hardly stand it!  Designing a kitchen for me is like being on drugs y’all!!!!

Not that I’ve ever been on drugs mind you but if I was on drugs I’d hope it would feel this good?!?!?!

Ok nevermind back to the ranch!

I’m serious!  It’s the most fun thing I get to be a part of!!!!  Don’t get me wrong it’s also the most intense and lots of physical work but it’s my favorite!!!!

Cabinets were everywhere but it wasn’t long until Prince Charming and I were able to bring it all together and

…..give birth to what was becoming a fabulous dream kitchen!
