Client Home Design Update

Hi friends!  I’m writing this post as the wind howls outside and the rain pours.  What crazy wet weather we’re having here in the south and it’s not even winter yet.  I’m not excited about the upcoming season AT ALL!  Forgive me while I whine.

New Home Design

I realized the other day that I haven’t had a chance to update you on the home design I’m doing so I wanted to take a few minutes to get you up to speed on all the happenings.  In my last update we had all the walls erected and I was in serious negotiation with the contractor about the fireplace.

Fireplace Drawing

So serious in fact that I had to just break down and draw a picture of what I wanted on the floor with a sharpie!

New Home Fireplace

Well I’m happy to inform you that I was finally able to get my point across and the fireplace is built and ready for the rock facade that will cover it!  Thank goodness!

New Home Ceiling

The ceiling has also gotten some attention.

Isn’t it completely FABULOUS!!!!

New Home Doors

This week we were also able to get the doors installed and all trimmed out.  I have to hand it to Prince Charming, he picked out the doors and designed the trim above.  I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and I’m so grateful that he has such an eye for things like this!!!

Closet Doors with Trim

Here’s a photo of one of the closets.  Isn’t’ it just lovely.

Pencil Sharpner

And I had to share this silly picture of the pencil sharpener.  These subcontractors came prepared.

Design Comparison

I’m also super pleased with how the exterior is coming along.  The photo on the left is the original plan with the right being a current photo of where we are.  I’m so glad I was able to convince the homeowners to go with a mostly gray facade with wood details here and there.  It’s so fresh and clean and really makes all the little details of the home POP!

New Home Side View

And the porches on the back…..well they’re just incredible.  I can see many hours being spent there relaxing!

I was even able to narrow down the interior and exterior color palettes.  So happy to have this done as it’s a huge undertaking on a home this size.  Hopefully we won’t have to make any changes but if we do this is at least a start!  So that’s where we are with the client build.  I’m hoping they’ll be able to move in before Thanksgiving.  Fingers crossed!

Thanks for reading friends!

Why didn’t contractor have you draw what you wanted for fireplace in first place to save much time and frustration, is he pulling a move to make you look bad? That shouldn’t have been such a problem in first place. Does contractor want to be paid, then he needs to do his job.
My son was a home builder in KY and had nothing but problems with almost every sub he had intended to hire. He ended up doing many other subs jobs to get the house built. This is person that was self taught and knew to do good job for his own pride in providing a house that should be right. He couldn’t count on subs showing up let alone doing a good job. He finally ended up quitting building homes when lumber went ski high in KY. He was just fed up with aggravation. In the area he was building homes people wanted $200K house for $60K. He bought our house and completely rehabbed it then sold it to us. Everything was much more than I had envisioned when he took me to see the house before he bought it and showed me plans of what he was going to do. I wish we could have kept that house.
He worked in Alabama after hurricane Katie and he left there after few months due to same kind of nonsense he experience in KY and his life was very much at risk. He ended up having to carry a gun for his own protection. My son is a big guy, 6’3 1/2 ” and about 250lbs, not somebody to mess with but he said the people there had no principles or consciences at all.
Hope things continue to move along, that is one fantastic home. Love that trim in house, so much style and very good looking. Thatkind of thing makes such a difference in how a home looks nad feels hope people appreciate your professionalism and talents. Happy Fall

    1. Oh thanks Jane Ellen. Don’t worry I didn’t look bad and it all came out great in the end. Thanks for always leaving your kind comments.

      Blessings,
