DIY Recipe Card Holder

Hi friends!  Today I’m excited to be participating in a Secret Santa tour with some of my blogging peeps!  I had so much fun making and sending a gift to my friend Tami of Curb Alert Blog and I can’t wait to see what everyone else made and get some gift ideas as well!

For my gift I decided I’d make some recipe card holders.  I’ve been wanting to make these since I saw some similar at a friends house.  So I figured this would be a great time to try out my rusty crafting skills.

I gathered my supplies for Michaels.  The cost was roughly $6 per holder.

Assembly was pretty easy.  I used my drill to drill a hole in the plaque portion and then……

secured it to the other section by using a dowel and some wood glue.

I then stood them upright to let the glue dry.  Aren’t they cute!

Once both of them were secure and the glue had dried I stained them with a dark stain.  I knew I wanted to paint them white and then distress so the dark stain was necessary in order to get a nice distressed finish.

And here are!  Perfect for holding recipes or photos.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be making another trip to Michaels petty soon to make a few for myself.
