We all have that person in our lives – whether it’s your mom, your cousin, best friend, or boss. They have everything, or want for nothing, which means finding the best gift ideas for them is more difficult and time consuming than planning a personal vacation.

For me, that person is my mother-in-love which is exactly why I sat down and gave this topic quite a bit of thought. I found the best gift ideas for the person that has everything and now I’m sharing them with you!

You really can’t go wrong with a food basket. Everyone needs to eat and, for me personally, high quality snacks are always welcome! The great thing about food baskets is you can customize it to that picky person, too. Not only that, but you can throw in a candle and a blanket to make a picnic date out of it!

This is my go-to gift when it comes to that person. Heck, this is my go-to gift for almost every person in my family. You can have almost anything (like a keychain, hat, coat, boots, even a BASEBALL!) embroidered for them and it makes all the difference. You can use their favorite quote, their monogram, the name of a loved one, or even just an image that they love added to something that they will use for years to come.

4. Personalize a Logo (JUST FOR THEM!)

I LOVE getting these custom logo orders. I just think they are the sweetest and most thoughtful gifts – ever. You can send in any image (a hand written message, an image, you name it!) and we can digitize it just for you and your picky person. I had one customer digitize the hand-written words “I love you” from her father after he passed and when I tell you the tears that came to her eyes when she received her gift… it tops everything!

This is one of those gifts that requires a bit of imagination. I have to preface that you need to be careful when selecting a vintage gift for someone that is picky because everyone has a particular taste in décor. That being said, if you go to a thrift store, or a vintage store like ours, you can ALWAYS find something extremely unique and interesting that would make a great gift. I once found a 100 year old cigar roller – talk about a cool item for a picky grandfather in your life! If all else fails, you can buy a hand made item and it truly will be a unique item that no one else has – bread bowls seem to be all the rage these days that fits into that category.

6. Gift them an update

My mom has been complaining that her kitchen isn’t up to par which made me think of this as something that could go in “the best gift ideas” list. If you know the picky person in your life has been complaining about a specific piece of furniture or cabinets, you could always surprise them with a renovation! Now I know what you’re thinking, “That isn’t cheap!”.

7. Gift them an experience

At this point, it’s probably best that I admit that I happen to be one of those people that are hard to shop for. It’s not because I have everything (trust me, I don’t!), but because I know I am happy just having my family by my side. Because of that reason, I tell my family to gift me an experience. So, let’s go somewhere we haven’t been before. Like driving down a dirt road to revel in Tennessee’s natural beauty. Or take me to a park to have a picnic (we can even open up that food basket you made!). If it’s raining outside, rent a movie and cook a big family meal!

The list is endless and time is so valuable these days. I want more time spent with my family. It’s likely the picky person in your life does, too. That being said, if you really are too busy, you can always gift them an experience like a painting class or sign making kit!

8. A book that reminds you of them

My best friend did this and boy was I inspired. She is a lover of self-help books. She read one that she thought I would love just as much, so she bought me a copy and gifted it to me with all of her own personal notes. At first, I’ll admit, I was a little offended. A self-help book? Do I look like I need help? The answer to that is yes.

Then, I realized just how thoughtful of a gift it was. She took time to write personal notes to me on why she thought I could relate or take wisdom from it. That’s a gift from the heart! And who can complain about having too many books?!
