DIY Beadboard and Letterpress with White Wax

I’ve had this chest in the barn for several weeks not sure what I was going to do with it.  But the other day when I passed by it I finally figured it out.

I decided it was the perfect candidate for Letterpress and Beadboard.

They are beautiful together and I used them both a lot.

After I stepped back and looked at it though I decided it needed a little softening.  So….

I broke out one of my secret weapons…..Debi’s Design Diary DIY white wax.

It’s a great product that adds the perfect softness to dark or light colors.

I use my “Best Chalk Brush” to apply it.  It has soft wonderful bristles that make applying paint or wax super easy and smooth.

I dip my brush directly into the wax being sure not to get too much.

Once I had a small amount on my brush I gently brushed it onto the drawer.

Repeating these steps over the entire surface.  Once I covered the entire chest with wax I lightly buffed with a soft cloth.

As you can see the white wax really softened the Letterpress and helped it to blend with the Beadboard much better.
