Rock Your Knockoff Paula Dean Inspired Table
Today you are in for treat because I’m participating in the “Rock Your Knock off Tour”. I LURVE a good deal and I know you guys do too so this is right up our alley!
My knock off is inspired by the Paula Dean table on the left in the photo above and some tables I saw recently on Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn. A typical table like this is starts at around $1400 not to mention the cost of the chairs so my client was thrilled to be able to have her entire existing set transformed for around $400.
She started off with this.
These chairs were pretty but the black got lost and she really wanted to lighten them up.
I used a combination of different Annie Sloan colors on them. Country Grey, Old White and Paris Grey to be exact.
Then they got some fairly heavy distressing and a good ole waxin!
I left the fabric the same and I love how much it blends in now.
I think the pedestal is my favorite!!!
What do you think? Have you rocked a knock off lately? I’d love to hear about it if you have.
Be sure and visit all the other great bloggers in the links below, to see their knock offs.
Love the transformation and it’s a gorgeous knockoff! Great job!
Thanks Leslie!!!
Your client has to be pleased with the end result of this project. I love the design of the table and chairs and your paint job gives them a great update.
Thanks Paula. She loves it. In fact I’m going back to do several more projects for her soon, including staining this tabletop a little darker. 🙂
Love this look it’s what I want to do to the set I just got for 100 dollars. My table with 4 chair I ‘d like to paint them these colors that you have shared. But wondering…. how are you keeping the paint from not rubbing off etc. My set is stained and varnished – any suggestion are welcomed – here is the link to take a look http://capturedanothermoment.blogspot.com/2014/09/business-find-for-fridays-find.html
and here is my email livingwithchanges@gmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you…Thanks
Hi Kristeen-You’re set is really pretty…and shiny 🙂 If I were you I’d rough up the top with sandpaper and then paint it with a high quality chalk-type paint. I personally use Annie Sloan brand. Then I would wax it to seal it.
I hope this helps!
Blessings,
Beth
Your dining set looks great and really brightens up your room! Love the new look and how you mixed the different colors for the effect:)
That’s quite a combo of colors you used, but seems to have done the job. Like just little of black showing thru from the distressing. Beautiful set, you said you’re going to stain the top little darker? Oooohhh, pretty. Will be looking to see what you do.
Hope clients hubs liked it too. Often we get ideas and can see it in our minds but hubs tend not to have those visions as we do. Wondering what other projects you’ll be doing for same client besides staining table top darker? Love waiting to see. Happy days
You did a great job! I love the mix of colors. I don’t do that enough. Feeling inspired now. 🙂
That’s a gorgeous dining set! You really made the details pop. And your layered paint technique makes it look so high end and pretty! <3
