Annie Sloan Old White Bed
The weather this weekend was amazing. You can really tell that fall is upon us and after all the rain we had last week I was thrilled to be able to work outside without feeling like I was going to get washed away.
I have a big kitchen cabinet project that I finished up and a few smaller jobs that I was able to complete as well. I even had a few people come out and purchase furniture, which is great because I had to postpone my barn sale as I’ve had no time to prepare due to all the client projects I’m doing and the house I’m helping design.
All that said I thought today I’d show you a bed I painted earlier this summer for a client. Old white is one of the most popular paint colors I use. It’s a timeless look that goes with just about any decor so it’s understandable that lots of people pick it.
This bed was a surprise for my clients daughter. She found it on one of those nifty buy, sell, trade sites that are on Facebook now, it was the perfect size for her daughters room. However sometimes teenagers have a different style and we wanted to make sure we got it just right to match her super cool room.
You know what I always say, the first coat is the WORST! Sometimes it’ll even make you think you’ve made a mistake.
But then there’s that second coat where you look back and think whew this is really coming together.
It even had this super cool footstool because it’s so high so I painted it Old White to match. My client was super thrilled with the outcome and that always makes it worth all the hard work that painting jobs like this take.
That’s it for today. I’ve got a busy week ahead reinstalling cabinet doors, painting a table with 6 chairs and several other small pieces. I’ve also got several painting projects for the design house and I need to go get some of the wall colors we chose so I can test them out on the walls. It’s going to be time to stage it and move my clients in soon. I’m so excited!!!!! I can’t wait to show you guys how it all comes together. It’s going to be fabulous. Well that is if everything that’s in my head comes to life like I think it will. Ha! Oh my! Have a fabulous Monday friends!
The bed looks beautiful!! She’s one lucky girl!!

So sorry Tami. I’ll post as soon as I have a rescheduled date.

Beth
Beth,
I can’t find the info on your location. Are you near Spring Hill, TN. My sister lives there and if your barn is close, I would like to let her know. I know you said your had postponed your sale but I assume that you will reschedule at a future date.
Hi Vicky,
I am about 15-20 minutes from Spring Hill. I will post the address as soon as I reschedule the sale. Thanks for asking!!!
Blessings,
Beth
Do you know what paint color is on the walls? I love it.
The bed turned out beautiful! I would also love to know what color/brand the walls are painted? It is very hard to find a good gray tone for wall color and this one looks perfect.
Hi Joni,
Thank you! I’m not sure what the wall paint is. This was roughly 5 years ago. So sorry.
Thank you for reading,
Beth
How much paint did you use for this project? I’m attempting my first Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project on my old bed and want to get an idea of how much to buy to avoid running back and forth from my local distributer.
Thanks so much and the bed looks beautiful!
Hi Alissa,
I’m not positive but I would just get a quart to be on the safe side. The amount you use will depend on the current state of the bed and the color you are painting it as well. Good luck and have fun!
Beth
It really is a beautiful transformation! She really is lucky and I’m sure she loved it! May I add a suggestion please? Paint the little wooden supports underneath to match the frame that way they looked showcased with the bed!!! Thanks for reading!
Hi Shanelle,
Thanks for reading and for your suggestion!
