Empire Buffet Restoration Part 1

Empire Dresser Before

I just started working on this, very in need of TLC, Empire buffet this week.  It’s going to get completely stripped and then repainted and the top left natural with a dark stain.

Favorite Paint Stripper

This my not so secret favorite weapon.  You can read more about how I strip in this post.

Applying Paint Stripper

I think the key to stripping is that you have to be patient.  You just can’t rush it.  I like to apply it with a brush and then sit back and watch the magic happen.

Removing Paint

I then CAREFULLY use a putty knife to remove all of the bubbled paint.

Stripped Drawer

Love this natural wood!!!!

Sanding

And now let me introduce you to my dad the furniture finisher extraordinaire.  He’s getting a little workout while he sands the top.  Well that’s it for today.  I’ve gotta go strip the sides and front.  And rebuild a drawer….and repair the bottom….and sand and sand and sand……

Stay tuned my friends!
