Red Kitchen Island

Oh how I wish I had the original photo of this.  This desk came to me via two of my favorite pickers.  It was rescued from a local university years ago and had been sitting in someone’s basement when they found it.  You guys would not believe the layers of black shiny paint that covered it!  I used an entire gallon of stripper.  AN ENTIRE GALLON!  Then Prince Charming and I sanded for hours to get to this beautiful wood top.

After we got all the old goo off Prince Charming added a shelf to the bottom.  Then we prepped it for paint and gave it a beautiful new look with my favorite red.  If my kitchen was big enough it would’ve moved itself right on in.  But true to form it was too big.  The new owner loved it though and that always puts a smile on my face.
