Simple Desk Transformation

picks

One of the reasons I started this blog and ultimately the reason my business has grown into what it is today, is because of my ability to find good things and transform them into great things.  I have this uncanny knack for seeing a diamond in the rough.  I don’t remember when it started or how it all came to be but I do know that even as a little child I took things and made something useable out of them.  For instance, I can remember playing with my dolls or barbies and making their furniture from my shoe boxes.  If I needed something I found a way to create it.  Strange….I know.  It is what it is.  Stay with me.

I don’t get to go pickin as much as I used to or as much as I’d like to.  I do have friends and family though that are always looking out for treasures for me.  This desk is an example of just that.  My former high school English teacher spotted it at a yard sale and snatched it up for me.  Isn’t that awesome!

I was super thrilled when I went to pick it up.  I had a client that had been looking for a small kitchen island and this piece fit the bill perfectly.

I sanded down and refinished the top and then gave the body and sides a nice fresh coat of blue paint.

After that I did a little distressing and sealed with a durable top coat.

The desk turned island turned out great!  Sometimes all you need is a little change of color to transform something and make it new again.  Or a little cardboard shoebox :).  I kid.  I kid.

Speaking of picking I think I’ll go do that now.  I’ll let you know if I find anything fun!  Wish me luck.

Have a fabulous day friends!

  1. What’s with the car ads??? They are not a cool thing to have in the middle of your paragraphs….looking at your pictures and NOT reading because of them.

    1. Hi Sharon-I’m sorry I’m not sure what you’re regerring to? There shouldn’t be adds in my paragraphs. I apologize that you’re having trouble. There should be a set of arrows on the bottom right that you can click to remove the adds.

    1. Sharon-that just made me laugh really hard. I apologize that it’s annoying. I am working so very hard on this blog and I assure the compensation I receive amounts to about .10 cents an hour but every little bit helps to keep it going.

      Thanks for your comments!!!

      Merry Christmas,
      Beth
